TULSA, Okla. (KFAQ) The Mayor's office says a $115-Million funding request for a controversial south Tulsa bridge will be pulled.
The item was on a list presented by the US Conference of Mayors as part of the Mainstreet Economic Recovery Report.
A spokesman for the Mayor says the report was preliminary, and the projects were all part of a capitol improvements list made up by city department heads.
The current list of requests was released this week and according to the Mayor's office, it is still undergoing revisions.
The bridge project has been a source of major contention between neighbors in the area and surrounding cities, and even the source of some legal action. The South Tulsa Citizen's Coalition says the bridge itself is not what they are against, it's the planned location at 121st Street and Yale.
Former Mayor Bill LaFortune and city councillors passed a resolution saying they were against the proposed toll bridge. Current Mayor Kathy Taylor also signed a letter stating her opposition to the bridge at the Yale location.
