OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) All offices of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission will be closed statewide Friday as employees take the second of eight scheduled furlough days.
The agency's Director of Administration Brooks Mitchell says the furlough days were implemented after the elimination of 8 percent of its work force and $400,000 in other spending cuts.
The furloughs are expected to save the agency about $100,000 each day.
The commission is responsible for regulating energy, trucking, utilities, railroads and telecommunications and has about 450 workers statewide.
It's one of about a dozen agencies that have developed furlough plans to cope with budget cuts caused by declining state revenue.
