OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State auditors say overspending and mismanagement have contributed to financial problems at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
A financial review of the agency by Auditor and Inspector Steve Burrage's office indicates the agency's payrolls costs are too high compared to the revenue it receives. But the review indicates auditors found no evidence of fraud, abuse or other criminal conduct at the agency.
The review was delivered to legislative budget writers last week. It says the agency has made payroll changes without regard to its funding levels and has expected funding increases and supplemental appropriations that did not occur.
Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore said Tuesday lawmakers are considering a supplemental appropriation for the agency for the fiscal year ending June 30.
