OOLOGAH (TULSA) A second Oologah Lower Elementary student has died from bacterial meningitis. The victims were a 7 year old boy and 8 year old girl. At least four other students are hospitalized.

A letter is being sent home with students giving instructions to parents on how to handle the outbreak.

The state Health Department says bacterial meningitis is spread by direct contact with the saliva or body fluids from the nose and throat of an infected person.

Symptoms of meningitis may include fever, rash, headache, stiff neck, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue.

A 7-year-old Oologah boy and an 8-year-old girl have died.
