Arubah Community Clinic
Arubah Community Clinic is a non-profit organization located in Collinsville on Main Street.
The clinic provides medical care for those who don't have insurance. Visionary and Executive Director Hilary Nicholson says that it's a Christ based facility and that they pray with their patients. They opened in November of 2011. Nicholson says God laid it on her heart to open a free clinic in 2010 and 18 months later they opened their doors. In 2012 they served 608 patients and over 22,000 hours of service was donated.
Arubah's vision is to become a Monday through Friday 8 to 5 paid staff clinic. Nicholson says that Arubah's desire is to not only specialize in acute and chronic care but also in preventative health. Their goal is to be able to offer free dental services within this year and they also want to be able to offer counseling, vision, fitness, and general health classes.
Nicholson says there are many ways to volunteer and that they are always looking for volunteers as well as donors. They've launched a fundraiser called Tri for Arubah. "We have a gentleman named Adam who is going to participate in an ironman triathlon in November," Nicholson explains. Every dollar given will be matched by a corporate sponsor. Their goal is to raise $40,000 for Arubah. Donations can be given on their website and those who would like to volunteer can sign up online. Volunteers do not need to be medically trained to serve at Arubah. Nicholson says, 'If you have the ability to love on people and show them the love of the Lord then we can use you." Arubah is also looking for people who will pray when the clinic is open on Monday and Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
