TULSA - Tulsa firefighters have been fighting a fire at the city's landfill at 46th Street North near Hwy 169.

Fire officials say lightning sparked a pile of tar chips that was 40 feet high, 200 feet long and 100 feet wide. Tulsa fire crews say they ran into some difficulty because the nearest hydrant was about a quarter of a mile away.

Crews got it under control about 2:30 this morning, but then were called back to the landfill at 6 a.m. when the fire rekindled.
