Grass fires erupt in parts of Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Several homes have been evacuated as more grass fires erupt in the hot, dry conditions across Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain said Monday at least six homes were evacuated in Payne County as three different fires threatened to converge east of Stillwater. Cain said she had received no immediate reports of injuries.
Another fire broke out Monday afternoon in Canadian County near Calumet. An El Reno Fire Department dispatcher said the agency had sent a brush pumper and a water tanker to the scene, but he didn't have any additional details.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Cain says other fires continued in Kiowa, Seminole and Ottawa counties.
She says there were no requests Monday for aerial water drops from Oklahoma National Guard aircraft.
