Mullin wins District 2
CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) - Plumbing company owner Markwayne Mullin has defeated longtime state and federal prosecutor Rob Wallace to give Republicans the open U.S. House seat in eastern Oklahoma.
Mullin touted his experience in the private sector building up his company, Mullin Plumbing, and railed against federal spending. The 35-year-old Republican has vowed to serve no more than three terms in office.
Independent Michael Fulks of Heavener was also on the ballot with Mullin and Wallace, a Democrat from Fort Gibson.
Mullin will represent the 2nd Congressional District and replace outgoing Democratic U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, who declined to seek a fifth term.
