Tulsa sewer truck caught in sinkhole on street
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A city of Tulsa utility truck that weighs about 60,000 pounds when loaded with water was stuck for hours when it was caught in a 9-foot sinkhole on a city street.
City spokeswoman Michelle Allen told reporters that the road collapsed Monday morning because of a defect in an underground sewer line.
Truck driver James Thomas told reporters he could feel the truck moving and sinking while at a stop sign and he tried to drive away but it was too late. The rear of the truck remained in the hole for several hours before a tow truck was able to remove it.
Officials say the truck is used to clean storm sewers.
