Woman found dead after OKC standoff identified
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police say the woman found dead following a more than 11-hour standoff was the mother of the man who held police at bay.
Police said Thursday that the victim is 77-year-old Janet Kay Hume had that her body was sent to the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
Hume's body was found early Tuesday following the standoff with 52-year-old Gerald Dale Hume at the Hume home. Gerald Hume was arrested on first-degree murder and weapons complaints. Police did not know if he had an attorney.
The standoff began Monday when police arrived with a search warrant to conduct a welfare check on Janet Hume. Gerald Hume had refused three times previously to allow officers into the home to check on his mother.
