Gambling investigation prompts Tulsa AD leave
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gambling-related allegations against the University of Tulsa's athletic director have drawn the attention of the NCAA, which has taken a hard stand against wagering.
Officials at the private university said Wednesday they notified the NCAA immediately after learning of the allegations against Director of Athletics Ross Parmley on Tuesday.
University of Tulsa spokeswoman Kayla Acebo says the school also has launched an investigation into the matter. She declined to elaborate.
NCAA officials released a statement saying they couldn't comment on ``current, pending or potential investigations.''
Parmley has not been charged, but was placed on paid leave Tuesday. That came after he was described in a recently unsealed FBI affidavit as an ``admitted gambler'' in a case involving an alleged bookmaker in Oklahoma City.
