OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A longtime educator from southern Oklahoma says she plans to seek the Democratic nomination for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Bennington Public Schools Superintendent Donna Anderson announced her candidacy on Friday.

The 47-year-old has nearly 20 years of experience as an educator and has worked at schools in Fort Supply, Prague, Grove, Porter, Kingston and Bennington.

Anderson says she's concerned about a focus on education reform in Oklahoma that relies on ``unproven methods because of a political agenda.''

Current Republican State Superintendent Janet Barresi was elected to her first term in 2010 and is up for reelection in 2014.
