Sand Springs police prepare for ice and snow
SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) - With snowy weather expected on Christmas Day, police in the Tulsa suburb of Sand Springs are warning residents to move their vehicles from the street or risk getting towed.
Sand Springs Deputy Police Chief Mike Carter says parking is prohibited on all snow routes in the city during a snow and ice emergency. He says on neighborhood streets, residents should park on the side of the street with odd numbered house addresses.
Carter says the city ordinance was passed to allow for the safe transit of emergency vehicles during winter weather emergencies and to allow for snowplows to operate more efficiently.
The National Weather Service says a mix of freezing rain and sleet is possible Tuesday, with as much as 8 inches of snow possible in some parts of Oklahoma.
