AG program offers legal help for homeowners
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office and Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma are teaming up to provide free legal help to homeowners facing mortgage issues or foreclosure.
The Resolution Oklahoma program is designed to help residents stay in their homes or seek other positive outcomes. It is provided by a grant from the Attorney General's Oklahoma Mortgage Settlement Fund.
The fund was created in March following a settlement with five of the nation's largest mortgage servicers. Mortgages do not need to be with one of the five servicers to apply for the Resolution Oklahoma program.
Oklahomans with lower incomes or seniors should contact Legal Aid Services to determine if they qualify for income-based assistance. Homeowners who do not qualify can apply for a voucher for up to $5,000 in legal services.
