Prosecutor files murder charge against teen
JENKS, Okla. (AP) - A prosecutor has filed a first-degree murder charge and a burglary charge against a 14-year-old boy in the shooting death of a 47-year-old Nevada woman who was killed while visiting her parents in Oklahoma.
Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris filed the charges Thursday in Tulsa County District Court, indicating that the teen will be prosecuted as an adult.
The teen is charged in the Dec. 17 death of Mary Escue. Authorities say Escue's body was found in her parents' home where she was visiting and planned to attend a graduation ceremony at the University of Tulsa.
Police say the teen broke in through a bathroom window to look for money. Authorities say the teen shot Escue in the house and stole her car.
