Supreme Court rejects appeal of Oklahoma inmate
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of an Oklahoma death-row inmate convicted of killing people in Oklahoma and two other states during a crime spree.
The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office says the nation's highest court rejected the appeal of Steven Ray Thacker on Monday.
Thacker pleaded guilty in Oklahoma to first-degree murder, kidnapping and first-degree rape in the December 1999 stabbing death of 25-year-old Laci Dawn Hill of Bixby. Thacker received the death penalty on the murder conviction after a sentencing hearing.
Thacker was also sentenced to death in Tennessee for the Jan. 2, 2000, killing of a tow truck driver and to life in prison in the Jan. 1, 2000, death of a Missouri man.
His attorney, Frank Bauman, did not return a telephone call seeking comment.
