COWETA (KTUL) - The Coweta police department is releasing few details about a possible shooting at Coweta Intermediate High School this morning.

Officers initially said there was a shooting at the ninth grade center early Monday morning, but at a 10:30 a.m. press conference said a weapon was not discharged.

Police and school officials released very few details and promised to go into more detail at a press conference at 2 p.m. today.

Officers say the building is now secure. Early reports indicate it may have been a student suicide.

The campus houses about 300 ninth grade students, according to the district's website.

Parents got a message from the district informing them of the incident.

The message stated intermediate students had been moved to the high school gym and that students could be picked up by parents.

Intermediate students will stay in the gym until school lets out or their parents pick them up. All other campuses and bus routes will run normally, district officials said.

The Intermediate High School is closed for the rest of the day. According to the district's website, all sporting events are canceled for the day as well.
