Local officials vow to support airline merger
TULSA (KFAQ) - Tulsa area officials are throwing their support behind the announced merger of American Airlines with US Airways.
Local mayors, county commissioners and members of the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered for an event to show support for the merger.
Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said the city will support the new company. Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal pointed out the economic impact on the area by the company and employees. The chamber says the company and its employees contribute more than 900 million dollars to the local economy, with 10 million dollars in tax revenue to the city and county.
