For several weeks Rene Couture and I have talked about the 7 Mountains of Culture, areas of influence and transformation in society. We then touched on calling, again emphasizing doing what you were created to do. Most recently we’ve had Mark Beliles on the show who talked about how we as individuals can change culture. Rene and I asked him what can we possibly do to make a difference in our society that’s so upside down and backwards. His response was to begin with prayer.
Here is the video of Kid President's pep talk to students and teachers I talked to Rene Couture about on the show yesterday. We've been discussing the 7 mountains of culture - 7 sphere of influence in society. Our focus on The Annica Thomas Show 9-22-13 was education. This Sunday we'll pick up where we left off talking about business.
I played part of this video of teacher Margaret Feinberg on The Annica Thomas Show 97 when I asked the question "have you ever heard something more than once from different sources near the same period of time?" In this podcast I also revisit The Annica Thomas Show 34: Discovering Your Passion and encourage you to pay attention to repetitive messages that just might be divine directives.
"Pray for Oklahoma." We're hearing and reading this constantly in the aftermath of the Moore tornado. It's a horrible tragedy that Oklahoma has suffered and I believe that God is on people's minds more than normal at this time as we process this great loss.
On The Annica Thomas Show 86 I interviewed Artist and Inspirational Speaker Richard Height. On my podcast page, 1170kfaq.com/podcasts/annicathomas, you can hear him talk about the timing for his visit at Sandy Hook Elementary School, his unusual start of pursuing his passion for art in a math class, and his one word piece of advice for finding your passion, "play."
Each week I choose a topic that I'm interested in for The Annica Thomas Show. Often I'm exposed to an idea a couple of different times early in the week and that idea becomes the topic for my show that week
This is Tim Hawkin's "Things You Don't Say to Your Wife" that I played on The Annica Thomas Show 77 on Marriage. Before playing this song I give reasons to get married and some tips for a happy and loving marriage. On this Sunday's show I'll expand on marriage more by touching on Ottis Redding's & Aretha Franklin's R-E-S-P-E-C-T and how our society often does the exact opposite of that song.
President Obama has begun his second term. Conveniently, nearly simultaneously Obama’s political campaign organization - Obama for America - is now a non-profit organization - Organizing for Action. Obama’s campaign team keeps working for what Obama wants - instead of re-election, the focus now is his legislative agendas and in particular gun control. This nonprofit organization will use the massive databases of the President’s campaign to work on citizens to push gun control legislation and will be able to raise unlimited funds. So now when you go to barackobama.com you are at Organizing for Action’s website and this non-profit is based in both Washington and Chicago. Obama was serious in his inaugural address when he said, “You and I as citizens have the power to set this country’s course.”
