Oklahoma Schools Teach Seventh-Graders About ‘Anal Sex,' ‘Mutual Masturbation'

Residents describe a “firestorm” in a community in Oklahoma after seventh and eighth graders in a public school system were given sex-ed handouts teaching “mutual masturbation” and “anal sex.”

Students as young as twelve years old learned about the “four types of sex” in Jay, Oklahoma, which is located in Delaware County in the northeast corner of the state bordering Missouri and Arkansas.

“What has happened is a firestorm in that little community,” Linda Murphy, an education adviser to former Governor Frank Keating, told Big League Politics. “This came from a Christian crisis pregnancy center called Lighthouse Pregnancy [Resource] Center, and it passed through their hands into the public school system. The program is called “Shape,” Sexual Health Awareness Prevention and Education.” This is just way off the wall to the norm of most Oklahoma citizens’ thinking.”

“That needs to be one-on-one counseling, not given to the whole group,” Murphy said.

The material, which was brought to light on a statewide level by Oklahoma conservative radio host Pat Campbell, was shared to Facebook by a parent and teacher named Mandy Callihan, who debated whether or not to go public with the information but decided that people needed to know.

Callihan wrote:

“Her father and I were (and still are) LIVID.
Yes, Jake and I contacted the school immediately (the teacher, the principal, the counselor, and the school nurse) We were told that “pamphlets” were sent home a week ago letting parents know that they were going to be discussing sex education. We never saw a pamphlet….so we didn’t have the opportunity to get her out of the class before it started. Signatures for permission were NOT required, but you could opt out (depending on who you talk too, because we got different answers on the permission part). This “pamphlet” they keep talking about tells me a couple of things…..mainly that we have educators, and administrators, in our school system that need to be educated on how to properly let parents know about such a touchy and personal subject…”
