Across the nation, Americans are marking the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Flags flew at half staff at the White House and U.S. Capitol and visitors paid respects at Kennedy's Arlington National Cemetery grave.
Curiously enough, in his version of the speech, President Barack Obama's delivery contained an omission - in a line that every other celebrity delivered as "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom," the President left out the words "under God."
Toronto's deputy mayor promised a more cooperative approach to governing on Tuesday after assuming the powers that were stripped from scandal-plagued Mayor Rob Ford. Ford vowed to carry on in his duties.
He keeps running into trouble. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford got into a verbal altercation with members of the public during a heated council meeting, at one point knocking over a woman councilor. The Toronto City Council later voted to strip him of many of his legislative powers.
