STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma State University's men's cross country team has been named No.1 in the nation in a preseason poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Cowboys are the defending champions and winners of three of the past four NCAA titles.

OSU earned 10 of the 12 first-place votes in the national poll.

The Cowboys return four scorers from a year ago - three of whom are now seniors who finished in the top 25 as individuals.

Tom Farrell finished ninth overall in 2012, while teammates Shadrack Kipchirchir and Joseph Manilafasha finished 18th and 24th, respectively. Shane Moskowitz, who finished 53rd last year, also returns.

OSU coach Dave Smith says it's nice to be recognized, but OSU has to back up its preseason ranking.d
