A Broken Arrow man says his roof leaks after a company redid the work three times.
Victor Kave, who paid $13,000 for the roofing work, said, “In all my life, I have never seen such shoddy work.”
The metal panels used to roof the home are coated in shingle covering and snap together.
Kave said, “I can run my finger all the way up in under or even my whole hand and feel the other shingle below and it’s not clipped at all.”
He claims the company screwed in the panels to hold them together, but that poses another problem.
Kave explained, “It completely nulls and voids the warranty if one screw is put through the face of the shingle.”
The homeowner is now left with a leaking roof and water spots on the decking.
He asked for a refund, but the company said no and that they would just re-do the work again.
Kave said, “I told him no, we’re not going to do it a fourth time because the shingles have been damaged by being taken off and put back on repeatedly . . . At this point, I have no confidence in the company that put it on, so I’d like to take the whole metal shingle off, give me a refund, and get another company to put me a roof on this house.”
Now, the homeowner is looking for an attorney to take the company to court in hopes of finally having a good roof over his head.
Kave admitted, “I’m really not trying to be unreasonable. I’m just trying to get what I paid for.”
We reached out to the roofing company and they tell 2 Works for You that all panels were clipped and latched correctly on Kave's roof.
The company also claims Kave had the manufacturer inspect the roof, and they said it was in good shape and passed all requirements for the warranty.
The homeowner says the manufacturer told him that in order for the warranty to stick, the roof company must redo the work.
