So we hear over and over that teachers haven't had a raise in over a decade. So if we are to believe that if they started in 2008 with just a BA/BS at $31,500 the State minimum they are still making $31,500 in 2018. So Friday I solicited calls from current Public School teachers to tell me that was the case. The silence was deafening. Why? Because they know what I know as a former teacher. When you sign a contract with a School District they give you a pay scale that shows you how much you make from year to year. In most public school districts you get an incremental increase from year to year. Sometimes it's minimal say $250, in Tulsa Public Schools it is $400 per year, others like Broken Arrow if you look at Salary Compensation from year 1 to year 2 you go up $1161. So to claim they haven't had a pay raise in 10 years is disingenuous indeed! If you want the public to support you there must be transparency and honesty!
