Cowboys: Team decided to remove name from stadium
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) - Dallas Cowboys executive Stephen Jones says it was the franchise's decision to remove the team name from what is now known as AT Stadium.
The home field for Dallas was called Cowboys Stadium its first four years, but Jones said Friday the team felt comfortable that the $1.2 billion facility would still be known as the home of the Cowboys.
The team announced the naming rights deal with AT on Thursday.
Jones is the chief operating officer and executive vice president in charge of player personnel. He is the son of owner Jerry Jones.
Stephen Jones says the Cowboys ``came a long ways'' playing in Texas Stadium before moving to Cowboys Stadium in 2009.
He says ``in no way'' was AT pushing to remove ``Cowboys'' from the stadium name.
